IT ALL STARTED IN 2013.....
The Exeter Cheer Festival was the inspiration of Sara Hole, who was the event organiser for the first three years. Her enthusiasm motivated the Exeter Gymnastics Club to support and help sponsor the event for the first two years as part of their “Olympic Legacy Policy” for their Cheerleading Group and in hope that the Festival will become an annual inclusion in the City of Exeter “Cultural Programme.”
In 2013 the Exeter Cheer Festival was the first of its kind in the South West. The event provides an opportunity for Cheer Groups in the region who have just started out on the competition pathway to meet and compete at their level of comfort and or to display for the pure pleasure of taking part and for the joy of others to spectate.
It also provides many learning platforms and opportunities for volunteers to be involved, share their expertise and perhaps become followers of Cheerleading in the City of Exeter.
The South West needs major participation events of this nature and Exeter is an ideal central venue. The expertise of the Exeter Gymnastics Clubs in organising many traditional Gala Performances and the experience of the Cheerleaders all went into ensuring that this “Festival” will blossom into a future major annual calendar event in the City of Exeter.
Exeter Gymnastics Club congratulated the Exeter Cheer Festival when it become independent in their third year and wished every success to this Festival associated with the UKCA going forward.
After a years break in 2016, a new committee formed to bring the Exeter Cheer Festival back for 2017! The committee are now planning for 2018. We look forward to seeing you there!!
